Despite calling for Arafat's removal, the Bush administration is not willing to formally condemn Ariel Sharon's bombing of a residential complex. U.S. officials had just enough backbone to pooh-pooh the action as not being conducive to peace. So much for a strong statement...

Now that that is out of the way, what is the difference between this assassination and bombing villages in Afghanistan?
