Post-election Hangover

Worked my first election site yesterday. Election judge called the morning before as I had submitted my name as a volunteer. Heavy turnout was expected, and the judge was having trouble rounding up enough people. I was looking forward to attending my first precinct caucus so I made it clear early on that I had Post-election Hangover

Electability of Presidential candidates

Nader to Run Again [NYT]. Ralph announced today apparently. I am still on his mailing list from the last Presidential campaign and receive requests for contributions every few months so his announcement is no surprise to me. The usual “spoiler” talk will no doubt start again, which is shameful. If you prefer Obama, good for Electability of Presidential candidates

Quit Your Job, Work Is a Sham

[Moved to a separate page to keep the page layout clean.] Found this old article via Ted’s blog. The punctuation and formatting in the originally transcribed version need work so I am cleaning this up as I read it. If you notice any errors, feel free to drop me a line.

Fantasy portfolio diversification

What a season this has been. All three of my fantasy football teams are heading to the Super Bowl, and another team which I helped a buddy draft is also in the big game. Brian Westbrook and Jason Witten are shared by three of these teams, but the compositions are otherwise fairly diverse (key players Fantasy portfolio diversification

Arm the Homeless

Picked up Guitar Hero 2 with wired guitar controller from Fry’s today for $60, which was a lucky find.  Yes, I am so behind as GH2 came out over a year ago, but I played it for the first time over the Thanksgiving holiday.  I feel better about not being able to buy the dual-guitar Arm the Homeless

Suburban wildlife

While driving home from dinner this evening, I spotted an owl perched on the curb. Very exciting! From digging around online, I believe that particular type is called a barn owl. In the last year, I have seen rabbits, deer, possums, armadillos, and raccoons in this area. Neighbors have reported seeing alligators and coyotes as Suburban wildlife
